How To Set Up GatewayVPN on Mac OS

This step-by-step guide walks you through downloading, installing, and connecting in minutes.

  1. Open Safari or your preferred browser and go to: https://gatewayvpn.com/apps/
  2. Scroll to the Mac section and click the Download button.
  3. Wait for the file (e.g., GatewayVPN.pkg) to finish downloading.
  4. Double-click the downloaded GatewayVPN.pkg file.
  5. In the window that opens, drag the GatewayVPN icon into your Applications folder.
  6. Go to Applications and double-click GatewayVPN to launch the app.
  7. If macOS asks for confirmation (“App downloaded from the internet”), click Open.
  8. Launch the GatewayVPN app.
  9. You’ll be prompted to sign in or create an account.
  10. New users can register using email or phone number.
  11. Returning users can log in with existing credentials.
  12. When connecting for the first time, GatewayVPN will ask for permission to create a VPN configuration.
  13. Click Allow when prompted.
  14. Enter your Mac user password or Touch ID to authorize the configuration.
  15. In the app, browse the list of available server locations (e.g., US, UK, Japan).
  16. Select the server that best suits your needs — for speed, location-specific access, or security.
  17. Click to confirm your choice.
  18. Click the Connect or Power icon on the app’s main screen.
  19. Wait for a moment — once connected, your status will show Connected.
  20. Your connection is now secure and encrypted.
